Our "Postcards
from ..." Series
Imagine holding a group of postcards in your
hand. Each--through an image and a personal note--captures a moment
frozen in time. The first postcard is dated 1918. A soldier, just
returned from the Great War, has visited the New York City Aquarium
on the tip of Manhattan. He writes to tell his sweetheart about
the excitement of the big city. On another card, an Iowa businessman
tells his wife and children that he has never seen anything quite
like the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair. On yet another is the thoughtful
message of a grandmother informing her children that on October
14, 1949 at 5:35 PM, she arrived safely at her destination, the
lovely Raleigh Hotel in Miami Beach.
Now imagine that you hold a book of beautiful
postcards. All are from the same city, but they span a complete
century. Now your hand holds more than a few moments in time. It
holds a story told in words and images.
Postcards from ...
is a unique series that tells the story of extraordinary places
through postcards sent by real people. Throughout each book, fascinating
text weaves the cards together and offers insights into another
place, another time. Whether you are an avid postcard collector
or you simply want a fresh perspective on a favorite haunt, you
are sure to find Postcards from ... a true delight.
